Wow! That’s going to be the first word out of your mouth after test driving the new 2012 Chevrolet 2500 4WD LTZ Crew Cab with a Duramax 6.6L V8 Turbo Diesel engine. It’s big; it’s powerful; it’s everything you want in a tow vehicle and more. This could be your next work truck and your go out of town on vacation with the 5th wheel travel trailer truck or both! If you are an angler with a slide-in camper, 5th wheel, or just wanting to pull your boat long distances this is the truck for you.

Before getting to far into all the standard and optional equipment available with the 2012 Chevrolet 2500 4WD LTZ Crew Cab, an angler should know why so many other anglers drive diesel trucks to fishing tournaments. The benefits of a diesel engine include longevity, power, and resale value. If you plan on keep your truck for a long time and driving it long distances then getting a diesel engine makes good sense.

2012_Chevrolet_2500_4WD_LTZ_Crew_Cab_Driven_Diesel_026_640x480It’s common for anglers to pull a boat to a tournament, local reservoir, or on vacation to a lake far away. Some will even put a slide-in camper in the truck bed or pull a 5th wheel with their boat behind it. Slide-in campers are great because you can unhook your boat then drop the slide-in camper at your camping spot then re-hook your boat back up to launch it or drive around without the slide-in. Anglers will also pull a 5th wheel trailer by itself for lodging. This not only cuts the cost, but it’s as close to home on the road as you are going to get. Another scenario that you will see anglers do where it’s legal is triple hauling. Triple hauling means pulling a 5th wheel trailer with a pickup that has a boat attached to the bumper of the 5th wheel. It’s important to remember that those states that allow triple hauling there may also be a length limit applied to how long the total length can be hauled. Obviously if you are triple hauling you will need power to pull the trailers attached.

Navigational aids and electronic devices make life easier on the road for anglers. Anglers pulling long distances often use their cell phones to make calls for lodging reservations, catch up with family members or hear the latest scuttlebutt on where the fish are biting on the lake and having a built in Bluetooth for their phone is a blessing. It is also standard equipment in the Chevrolet 2500 4WD LTZ Crew Cab. Optional equipment like Rear Vision Camera Display not only lets you see to avoid objects, but hook up the trailer without jumping in and out of the truck constantly checking to see if you are close enough to connect the two. Chevrolet also offers an optional Navigation System-Touch Screen with and SIRIUSXM Satellite Radio (Fee applies after the first free month trial subscription.) with CD/DVD player. It would also be wise to get the optional camper/5th wheel trailer wiring when purchasing a new truck.
