Mark Pack Depending on Solid Finish at FLW Tour Lake Champlain Tournament to Qualify for Forrest Wood Cup

For Mineola, Texas, Professional angler and Lake Fork Trophy Lures Pro Mark Pack, the FLW Tour Lake Champlain tournament is make or break time.  Pack’s on the bubble sitting just two places from qualifying for the Forrest Wood Cup Championship.  A solid finish means Pack will be fishing July 30-August 2 on Three Rivers in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

“My strategy is to practice two days on the north end and two days on the south end of Lake Champlain,” Pack continued, “you get into trouble when you put all your eggs in one basket here on Lake Champlain because of the wind”.  Pack knows that Lake Champlain can get rough and having your key area more than 70 miles away could mean disaster.  If Pack makes the journey, his Ranger Z520 rigged with a 250-hp Yamaha may end up being put to the test. The boat ride to Ticonderoga is risky, it can also be rewarding; big bags of largemouth await anglers willing to take that chance. lft creature bait

For Pack, this is his fifth time to be fishing the reservoir and he has been successful there before in tournaments.  This experience should help Pack have a solid tournament.  “I will key in on finding rocks mixed with grass, that is where the bass like to be,” explained Pack.  When fishing for largemouth Pack will be fishing with a Lake Fork Trophy Lures Frog, Crawl Tube, and flipping a Hyper Freak.  “The best colors to fish up on Lake Champlain are black/blue or green/pumpkin,” revealed Pack.  Pack’s tactics will change up if he goes fishing for smallmouth.  “I will focus on fishing a Carolina rig with a Lake fork Trophy Lure Creature Bait,” Pack went on, “around rock piles”.  “There is a lot of fish in Lake Champlain both largemouth and smallmouth, sometimes you can go for miles without a bite until you find a school of them,” said Pack.

On Saturday morning, Pack will have four days of pre-fishing to figure out where and how to catch two solid limits of bass to make the top ten cut.  A solid finish will get him off the bubble and into the Forrest Wood Cup Championship.
