Hook, Braid Line and Sinker
While countless new products in the fishing world turn out to be rubbish. One product is relatively new and is proving to be beneficial for anglers. Braid fishing line has definitely found its niche in the fishing line department. Just take a quick glance in any sporting goods store or in fishing tackle retailer magazine, and you will find scores of packaged braid fishing line to select from.
The growth and development of braid line comes from anglers demanding a special type of fishing line. This line was to have little or no stretch, small line diameter, is abrasive resistant, and exceptionally strong. So fishing line manufactures developed a product called braid fishing line. Other inherited properties which is typical of braid line is no memory, floats, and visible under the water’s surface. In addition, braid line stretches only about 5% compared to 20% of some monofilament lines.
As with any type of fishing line, correctly tied knots are extremely important when fishing with braid fishing line. A popular knot for tying leader material to braid is the double Uni knot. While a Palomar knot works favorably for attaching braid line to swivel or lure eye.
Techniques which braid line excels in are dragging a Carolina rig, flipping, pitching a jig or frog, fishing grass, freshwater trolling, and saltwater fishing. These techniques usually require minimal line stretch to be productive. Other techniques such as casting a top water plug, or large swim baits, and crank baits have resulted in mixed results.
As spring approaches many anglers begin changing old fishing line from reels. While replacing the line on these reels you have numerous choices available. While select reels will still have monofilament, you may decide to refill some with braid line. Its positive benefits just can not be denied. Which is why more and more anglers are taking to using braid line; hook, BRAID LINE, and sinker.
