VMC SpinShot Puts a New Twist on Drop Shot Rig
Anglers have numerous fishing techniques that they can use to catch bass. Some techniques are referred to as power fishing including flipping and pitching with heavy line and rods with strong back bones. Other techniques are more subtle. Angler use ultralight line and spinning rods that can cast light lures. Fishing a shaky head or drop shotting is often referred to a finesse technique for a more subtle presentation. Anglers often rely on a more subtle presentation in ultra clear water or when angling pressure has caused the fish to stop biting. A drop shot rig frequently is used in those situations, but there is a drawback to fishing with a drop shot rig. Line twist due to the drop shot weight spinning around.
The VMC SpinShot drop-shot hook is available in 1/0, 1, 2, 4, 6, and 8. These five sizes are the most common used by anglers when drop shotting. The unique swiveling wire of the SpinShot drop-shot hook eliminates line twist; in addition to
making it easier for anglers to rig a drop shot quickly. Rigging a drop shot rig has always been one of the major drawbacks of fishing a drop shot rig. In the past before the VMC SpinShot hook an angler had to measure out the line required for the correct drop between the hook and drop shot weight. If the length was wrong the angler would have to cut and retie the correct length. It also required the angler to tie a Palomar knot to hold the hook outward away from the line. If the knot was tied incorrectly the hook would not stand out straight, but with the SpinShot hook all an angler has to do is just tie the line and leader to it. It’s easy, quick, and simple to do without taking up precious time from the angler.
Now you can go drop shotting knowing that it will not take up to much time to retie if you break off your drop shot rig. Its one technique that can put quality fish in your boat especially when the bite is off or angling pressure has bass skittish.
