    Fishing Accident Beaver Lake Continued...

    Author: Brad Wiegmann |

Mr. Tommy Biffle Rod grave siteObituary
Mr. Tommy Biffle Rod, a former fishing great who was hailed as a pitching sensation when he joined forces with Brad Wiegmann who is an outdoor writer/photographer and fishing guide on both Beaver Lake and Lake SWEPCO in Arkansas; in addition to being joining together with Mr. Quantum “Smoke” Reel. The combination was unstoppable when it came to catching fish and exceeded all expectations that Brad Wiegmann had about the late Mr. Tommy Biffle Rod.

Mr. Tommy Biffle Rod was pronounced dead by Lt. U. Broke It, Coroner’s Investigation Division of Bass Fishing County, on the deck of Brad Wiegmann’s boat shortly after the accident happened. “We don’t suspect any fowl play in the accident. It’s just one of those things that can happen when you are out on the water fishing. Clearly, Mr. Wiegmann is shook up by the whole situation,” said Lt. U. Broke It.

Mr. Tommy Biffle Rod was renowned not only for catching fish when out pitching in heavy, thick cover, but also casting jigs, swimbaits, big worms, and jigging spoon. The peak of his career was when Mr. Tommy Biffle Rod and Mr. Brad Wiegmann landed a double digit largemouth bass on Lake Fork in Texas.

Mr. Tommy Biffle Rod spent most of his time in Arkansas, but traveled to numerous states including Texas, Kentucky, Tennessee, Missouri, and Louisiana before the accident. No matter where Mr. Tommy Biffle Rod went, you could bet that he would be out fishing somewhere with Mr. Wiegmann.

Mr. Tommy Biffle Rod is survived by his brothers Gary Klein Rod, Shaw Grigsby Rod, Gerald Swindle Rod, Dean Rojas Rod, and Greg Hackney Rod. Also survived by the death is his fishing buddies Mr. Quantum “Smoke” Reel; and their offspring EXOskeletal Reel.

In Lieu of flowers, Mr. Brad Wiegmann and the Rod family are requesting that donations be sent to The Future Fishing Foundation in honor of Mr. Tommy Biffle Rod. The Future Fisherman Foundation is working to unite the sportfishing industry with a network of state outdoor educators, national conservation groups, and youth organizations dedicated to introducing America’s youth to angling and the outdoors.

Mr. Tommy Biffle Rod’s funeral service will be held next week on Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Second Dock from the Point followed by interment at Mr. Brad Wiegmann’s house. Anyone attending should notify Mr. Wiegmann.

Any angler that has ever broken a fishing rod knows the feeling when they hear the snap of their pole breaking. The good news is a number of rod manufactures offer some type of warranty on their rods; the bad news is other rod manufactures don’t. As for my Quantum Tour Tommy Biffle Rod, I will just have to get another one, but somehow I don’t think it will ever be the same again.Mr. Tommy Biffle Rod's final resting spot.
