Fishing Accident on Beaver Lake
Sometimes life is not just about fishing. Today while my wife, her best friend, and I were fishing we experienced the life being drained from one of my best friends. Unfortunately there was nothing I could do to save him. I am still very much shook up yet about what happened and right now really don’t care much like ever going out fishing again. My wife said I should email some of my closest friends and let them know what happened in case it would come out on Face Book or in the newspapers.
Apparently, my best friend, who was in the boat with me doubled over when a fish bit the lure on his line. It really wasn't that big of fish, but somehow the force of setting the hook was too much for him and he doubled over and fell into the lake. I quickly jumped in to save him and apparently just in time as he was sinking fast. Thankfully, I was able to get him back in the boat with some encouragement from my wife and her best friend. After I got him back in I tried to do CPR, but with no success, he died instantly just after the fish struck his bait. My wife called the authorities to come out and help us since we really didn't know what to do with him.
After this happened, I just sat down and wept openly. I am only telling this to you so the real truth comes out about the situation and that was no foul-play involved in his death. Tomorrow, I will be checking into funeral arrangements for him.(Funeral arrangements TBA).
If you knew him, please contact me so I can let you know when the funeral will be held. It saddens me to think of him never going fishing with me again, we had some great times together and he was even there when I caught my biggest largemouth. Like most fishing buddies, he was always willing to go fishing, no matter the weather or if the fish were biting. I will truly miss him.Editors note: Due to the nature of the accident on Beaver Lake the rest of the story will be released tomorrow after the proper authorities have notified the next of kin.
