Affordable and Durable 2 Positive Traits in Quantum Reax PT Reel

Have mercy…I have just come from the Bass Pro Shop’s reel counter. I don’t think I have ever seen so many reels in one place before. They apparently have an endless supply of quality reels there. Some are out of most anglers’ price range. Others are inexpensive, but lack in quality. A few of the reels had everything I was looking for in a reel like being affordable and durable.
The Quantum Reax PT (www.quantumfishing.com) casting reel fits in to that category of affordable and durable; however this reel is not your typical mid-priced reel. Quantum Reax PT casting reels has many of the top end Quantum Performance Tuned features including Quantum’s advanced ACS3 self-adjusting centrifugal cast control. “The Quantum Reax PT casting reel has a solid one-piece aluminum frame that has less components than a lot of reels. This makes it both strong yet very durable at the same time. It also has a layered ceramic drag system that provides an extremely smooth break-away drag,” said Joe Davis, Quantum fishing engineer and head of the Quantum’s R&D Laboratory. The Quantum Reax PT casting reel drag can be locked down to 18-pounds. That’s the maximum drag setting. “Maximum drag setting is sometimes misunderstood by anglers. What that means is how much drag you can physically apply with your hand by turning the star drag. Turning the star drag any farther can cause damage to the drag system like when guys take a pliers to turn or lock the drag down as tight as possible,” explain Davis. Besides these features, anglers will find the line capacity of the Quantum Reax PT impressive. It has the line capacity of a larger 200 sized reel on a frame of a 100 sized reel. The smaller size allows an angler to easily palm the reel while holding the rod; in addition to reducing the weight to only 8.5-ounces.
The Quantum Reax PT casting reel comes in 2 models. The RX150HPT has a gear ratio of 7.3:1 that brings in a burning hot 34 inches-per-turn with a line capacity of 145 yards of 12-pound test, 7 ball-bearings, and maximum drag setting of 15-pounds. The RX150SPT has a gear ratio of 6.6:1 that brings in 28 inches-per-turn with a line capacity of 145 yards of 12-pound test, 7 ball-bearings, and maximum drag setting of 18-pounds.
Looking for a baitcasting reel? Maybe you should go to the Bass Pro Shop’s reel counter and take some for a spin. The variety of sizes, shapes, quality, and price will astonish you…have mercy!
