Hands Down Quantum Tour Biffle Rod One of the Best
Hands down is an interesting phrase. Its believed that the origin may have come from boxing where a great boxer may let their guard down meaning putting their hands down as if to indicate they are good enough to win with their hands down. In the realm of bass fishing no one is better at flipping and pitching then Tommy Biffle hands down. His long list of tournament wins speak for itself, but one of the keys to Biffle’s success is the equipment he fishes with. Biffle is particular on his choices of rods and their action. If you ask, Biffle will tell you Quantum Tour Biffle rods are one of the best rods you can buy hands down and are the rods he fishes with.
It would be almost impossible to fish for bass using only 1 rod. There are just too many techniques and lures that anglers may use on a given day. That’s why there are 2 different models of the Quantum Tour Biffle rod (www.quantumfishing.com). “I use the shorter 6’10” Tour Biffle rod when casting jigs, big spinnerbaits, deep worm fishing, and when fishing with a Biffle Bug rigged on a 5/16-ounce or 11/16-ounce Hard Head. The longer 7’6” Tour Biffle rod, I use to flip or pitch lures in cover like buckbrush,” explained Bassmaster Elite Series Pro Tommy Biffle. The Biffle rod was designed with his input similar to the Tour Kevin VanDam, Tour Shaw Grigsby, Tour Gerald Swindle, Tour Gary Klein, Tour Dean Rojas, and Tour Greg Hackney rods where each of the pros contributed to the design of their rods. “The Tour Biffle Rod is by far one of the stiffest in the market place and that was by design. When I am fishing cover, I have to be able to move the fish away from cover to catch them or when I am fishing deep, say 20 to 25 feet deep I need a stiff rod to set the hook,” said Biffle.
The Quantum Tour Biffle Rod is available in 2 casting models. Both rods are heavy action with a fast taper, have a Fuji ACS reel seat, and EVA foam handles. Not only is the Quantum Tour Biffle Rod unique because of the stiff action, but it was one of the first rods to eliminate the fore grip. “By eliminating the fore grip it made the rod lighter and easier to hold. I normally use either a Quantum Energy PT or Smoke Reel and it’s the most balanced rod and reel combo I know,” said Biffle.
When it comes to flipping and pitching no one is better than Biffle at that technique. It’s almost scary. He puts lures in places where there is hardly enough room to get a lure by itself in, but Biffle can also cast jigs like the Biffle Bug and catch fish. That makes him a threat to win in any bass tournament he’s fishing in. He’s just the good…hands down!![]()
