Undercover Covers Keep Alabama Rig Lure Your Little Secret

    Author: Brad Wiegmann |

Undercover Covers, Rod Cover-Ups and The Alabama Rig.When it comes to anglers and their lures they like to keep them a secret. Not letting anyone know what brand or color they are catching their fish on. Some lures are easy to keep hidden away from prying eyes while others a bit more challenging. One lure that professional bass anglers have been secretly hiding away from other anglers is The Alabama Rig. The Alabama Rig® is the first of its kind without a real category to classify it in, but needless to say anglers have been and will be wanting to keep it their little secret or undercover. To keep the prying eye from seeing it, anglers have gone to keeping it covered with Undercover Covers and Rod Cover-Ups by Crankbait Cover-Ups. The Undercover Covers and Rod Cover-Ups not only keep The Alabama Rig from being seen, but wrapped up keeping the wire arms from getting tangled or lures attached to it from being seen.

Undercover Cover with a full rigged Alabama Rig.The Alabama Rig® (www.TheAlabamaRig.com) is a lure that has a head with five separate wire limbs each one with a swivel where a lure is attached. It can be rigged several ways. “The two most common ways to rig The Alabama Rig is a radius pattern or horizontal pattern. Both have their advantages. The radius pattern can be used when topwater fishing across aquatic vegetation, counted down to schools of suspended fish, or like a Carolina rig dragged across bottom structure. On the other hand, the horizontal pattern is great for casting to schooling surface fish or around boat docks,” explained Andy Poss, owner of The Alabama Rig. The Alabama Rig can be rigged with almost any lure an angler wants to use. ‘The most common lure anglers use on The Alabama Rig is soft swimbaits, grubs, Storming Hornets, spoons, Roostertails, Super Flukes Juniors, soft bodied frogs, or any lure that can be attached to a swivel,” Poss said.

The Alabama Rig inside an Undercover Cover. How you keep The Alabama Rig enclosed and concealed can be challenging. The protruding long wire arms and lures have a tendency to get tangled easily in carpet or other fishing rods. Plus other anglers can without a doubt see what lures are tied on The Alabama Rig if not covered. “The perfect system to covering up The Alabama Rig is using the Undercover Covers and Rod Cover-Ups together. It keeps The Alabama Rig and your rod from tangling with other lures or rods while hiding what lures you have attached to your Alabama Rig,” explained Pat Garvey, owner of Crankbait Cover-Ups (www.coveryourcranks.com). The smoke colored Undercover Covers are made with soft and pliable vinyl making it easy to wrap around both the Alabama Rig and lures. “To insure anglers cannot see what lures you have on The Alabama Rig the vinyl is a dark smoke color,” Garvey continued, “the vinyl is also UV and mildew resistant to protect your lures once wrapped up inside it.” The Undercover Covers can be adjusted to any lures you put on The Alabama Rig with an innovative hook and loop material. It also fits any rod and reel seat combination. “Once you have The Alabama Rig covered it’s time to cover your rod down to The Alabama Rig; in addition to making the rod and reel completely snag and tangle proof,” Garvey went on, “a Rod Cover-Up was designed just for that purpose, but it also can be slid down far enough to cover the head of The Alabama Rig so no one can see it.” Rod Cover-Ups are made with unique plastic webbing that expands when the rod is pushed into it. Once it is pushed into the Rod Cover-Up, the rod guides and line are protected; in addition to keeping the rods from tangling. The webbing will hold the rod until it is gently pulled off.

The Undercover Cover and Rod Cover-Ups can be purchased individually or packaged together at www.coveryourcrank.com or www.thealabamarig.com. The Undercover Cover-Ups come in solid black trim with a deep smoky vinyl finish. The Rod Cover-Ups come in solid black, but additional color patterns are available upon request.

It’s no secret that The Alabama Rig is the hottest lure out there, but are you going to let all your fishing buddies know what you have rigged on it? Not when it’s wrapped up in the Undercover Cover and Rod Cover-Up.Crankbait Cover-Ups HomepageThe Alabama Rig Homepage
