Anglers Mastering Their Fishing Line Waste with MonoMASTER

It starts with one little snip here and another clip there. Slowly it continues to grow bigger and bigger. You try storing it in your pockets, fishing vest, or storage compartments but it just continues growing bigger and bigger. Your tippet, monofilament, braid, or fluorocarbon fishing line seems to be everywhere. Not only is it in your boat but in ponds, streams, and lakes wherever you go. No matter all the good intentions anglers may have, there will always be some line waste into the environment. It can get out of control quickly. Now anglers can master their fishing line waste with MonoMASTER. The first and innovative tool created to collect line waste.
The MonoMASTER was invented by Dr. Ian A. White to control the waste line that he and other anglers generate on the water. “While I was studying for my Ph.D., I loved to go out fishing to take a break from studying and relieve the stress; I saw that there was a need to have some type of tool to collect the line waste I was generating and designed a proto type MonoMASTER out of a cork from a wine bottle and film canister,” explained Dr. White. Although Dr. White’s focus was on collecting fly fishing leader and tippet material, the MonoMASTER (www.grasshopperproducts.com) can be used to collect all waste fishing line including monofilament, braid, or fluorocarbon fishing line.
The MonoMASTER is small and light weight making it great for attaching to a fly anglers vest, but can also be used by any angler to control their waste line from getting into ponds, streams, rivers, or reservoirs. The MonoMASTER works by inserting the waste line into a slot on the MonoMASTER and twisting the handle. This causes the line to catch and collect safely inside. Once the MonoMASTER is filled with waste fishing line, it disassembles and discarded fishing line remove then the MonoMASTER is reassembled to begin the process over again. The MonoMASTER holds approximately 50-yards of waste monofilament fishing line.
Being good stewards of our environment begins with anglers consciously controlling any waste monofilament getting into our waters. Discarded monofilament can last over 600 years if not disposed of properly. It starts with a snip here and another snip there, slowly growing bigger and out of control. By mastering your fishing line waste, you can make your fishing trips more enjoyable, you will protect wildlife, and the environment will benefit for years and years to come.
