Junior’s in the Zone, the Big Bass Zone

    Author: Brad Wiegmann |

Its official, Junior is in the zone, the Big Bass Zone; where anglers check their egos in and cast into all the possible ways to catch a fish.  Make no mistake about it, Spro’s BBZ-1 Junior lives up to his predecessors before him, the original Spro BBZ-1 and the Spro BBZ Shad.

Looks are everything in fishing but swimbaits also need action to make fish to strike.  Junior has both looks and action.  The 6-inch BBZ-1 Junior is perfect for when fish do not want a big meal like the original 8-inch BBZ-1 or a smaller snack size BBZ-1 Shad.  Every BBZ-1 Junior comes rigged with two extremely sharp Gamakatsu 2X strong hooks to guarantee hookups. Spro bbz-1 Junior schooling

The family of BBZ lures (www.spro.com) was designed for Spro Lures by legendary swimbait expert Bill Siemantel.  Siemantel, co-author of the book, Big Bass Zone, explains why he designed the 6-inch version, “It all started with the big 8-inch BBZ-1, but it had some limitations for the weekend and tournament angler; after seeing how the 4-inch BBZ-1 Shad took off, we decided to design one that all anglers could use,” Siemantel continued, “the drawing power of the 6-inch BBZ-1 Junior is scary and it took a lot of tweaking to get the action just right.”  Siemantel reported catching fish of all sizes and species everywhere on the new 6-inch version.  “The great thing about this size bait is it does not require a big swimbait rod to fish or cast it; in addition to coming in four popular colors that will catch fish anywhere in the United States,” explained Siemantel.  As for a fishing tip, Siemantel said, “When fishing the 6-inch BBZ-1 Junior or any of the Spro swimbaits, anglers just need to fish the baits slowly; most anglers do not fish swimbaits slow enough.”Spro bbz-1 Junior school of swimming fish

The floater comes in three models and several different colors including wicked perch, blue back herring, rainbow trout, and sexy lavender.  The floater weighs 2-ounces and is made to wake along the surface; the slow sink weighs 2¼-ounces and falls 1 foot per 3 seconds; the fast sink weighs 2½-ounces and falls 1 foot per second.  The three different actions allow anglers to fish every depth in the water column.

For anglers, Junior has everything they are looking for in a swimbait both looks and action in a compact size.  Just follow the basic BBZ principles that Siemantel explains in his book that have made so many other anglers successful catching fish.  Now that Junior is in the Zone…no fish is safe.
