Guiding for stripers on Beaver Lake in Arkansas using only artificial lures all year round is challenging. As far as I know, no one except me does it. All the other guides rely on using live bait. To be truthful it’s more challenging. You have to be an expert at finding the stripers and teaching your clients how to present a lure correctly so they can catch them; not the live bait that’s just swimming around. What lures you fish with can make or break your entire guide trip.

Stripers on Beaver Lake can weigh up to 40 plus pounds. That takes a lure with a solid hardware system to hook and land them. One lure that’s always been productive for my clients to catch stripers with is Heddon Zara Spooks. Now these lures are going to be even better yet when it comes to catching big stripers.

The new Heddon Super Spook XT was released at ICAST 2012. Taking a look at this Super Spook, you can tell this lure is going to withstand some massive abuse from anglers fishing for monster stripers or other giant game fish.

The following is the Press Release about the new Heddon Super Spook XT lure:

Super Spook XT – The Toughest Spook EVER!

Giant redfish or massive musky, the XT handles them all

Fort Smith, Ark. – It says Salt Water on the side, but musky and striper anglers should take note, too. The Super Spook XT is the strongest, toughest Spook ever made. The hardware system -- from line ties to hooks -- are all designed to stand up to the most voracious saltwater or toothy – or simply strong and tough – fish the world has to offer. The XT model boasts two 3X strong, super-sharp hooks and heavy duty saltwater grade hook hangers and split rings. The body also has been upgraded with a tougher material to resist the teeth of your vicious predator fish.

The Super Spook XT is 5-inches in length and is available in a dozen top color patterns from Bone to Sardine to Black body/chartreuse head, to appeal to all types of predator fish. Whether you’re after inshore fish on the Texas coast like sea trout or redfish or giant muskies in Minnesota, or even giant stripers in Tennessee, the Super Spook XT will stand up to the damage these fish can dish out.

The Heddon Saltwater Super Spook XT has an MSRP of just $9.99. For more information go to www.luHeddon Super Spook XTrenet.com.

For my clients on Beaver Lake it all about them catching the stripers, not the guide baiting the hook, putting the rod in the holder, telling the client when to set the hook, how to reel the striper in, netting the striper and throwing it in a cooler. In my boat, the client does the fishing and catching.

Now they will have one more lure to catch those big stripers on. The Heddon Saltwater Grade Super Spook XT is going to be one lure that those stripers can’t resist and better yet break!
