    The Crustacean Looking Real Craw

    Author: Brad Wiegmann |

    Bomber Real Craw

What would you rather cast; a super-realistic looking crawfish with an exoskeleton body or one that just has a flat looking crawfish pattern on it? Maybe the real question is which one do you think the fish are going to bite? The realistic looking Bomber Model A Real Craw or a fake imitation without the exoskeleton body? I’m guessing the Real Craw. The Model A Real Craw by Bomber Lures is a series of lures that have an exoskeleton finish giving them an unique texture; in addition to having raised, blood-red crustacean eyes that are positioned at the end of the lure giving it a  realistic appearance.

Real CrawSmall, shallow running crankbaits are often overlooked today with anglers favoring the big deep divers; however, there are times when a small, shallow running crankbait will out produce the best of deep divers. One of those times is during the fall when the bait fish migrate towards the back of feeder creeks. The backs of most of these feeder creeks are super shallow and flat. A shallow running crankbait can be casted long distances and retrieved back through balls of forage to initiate strikes. Another time is during the winter months when bass are often found shallow after a couple days of sunshine. These bass are searching for crawfish that come out as the water temperature rises. What color the crawfish are depends on where you are fishing. In Texas, the crawfish may have a distinctive reddish color to them; in Arkansas, the crawfish normally are olive with a dark back. The Bomber Model A Real Craw (www.Lurenet.com) comes in color patterns that mimic those crawfish such as the reddish Nest Robber or the Moss Back Craw which is olive with a dark back. The key area for fishing in the winter is on 45-degree chunk rock banks that absorb the sunrays. One more time is prespawn as the water temperatures begin rising. Bass will move up from their deep water dwellings in preparation for spawning. Main lake points, secondary points inside coves or main feeder creeks are prime locations for fish shallow running crankbaits.

The Bomber Model A Real Craw comes in 7 different color patterns including Creek Craw, Moss Back Craw, Okie Craw, Ditch Craw, Molting Craw, Sunrise Craw, and Nest Robber. It measures 2 1/8-inches in length weight 5/16-ounces with a medium rounded lip that runs 3-6 feet deep.

Using the right lure, at the right time equals catching more bass. The Bomber Model A Real Craw was designed to catch bass when they move up shallow and feed on crawfish. Prime times to cast it are during the fall, winter, and prespawn period. No doubt about it; bass will be fooled into biting this super-realistic looking crawfish lure.
