Captain_Steve_Dickey_Angers_Advantage_1_057_-_Copy_320x200It’s quiet. So peaceful it allows you to gather your thoughts for the day. Only the occasional blue heron squalling breaks the silence to bring you back to reality as you frantically search for your strike indicator. It’s under so you quickly set the hook with a snap of your wrist. Seconds later a trophy size brown trout begins a series of grand leaps then dives downwards pulling hard and tugging. The battle continues until the giant trout is subdued and netted then released. It’s another scenic day out on Lake Taneycomo and you are enjoying every moment, but the sun setting means it’s time to go back to the landing. Unlike some of the other anglers on Lake Taneycomo who are staying in motels you elected to stay at Lilleys’ Landing. Lilleys’ Landing is renowned for its hospitality and catering to anglers every need.

Lilleys’ Landing (www.lilleyslanding.com) is located on the banks of Lake Taneycomo upstream from Ozark Beach “Powersite Dam” near Forsyth, Missouri, and down steam from the Table Rock Dam. It has 22 miles of shoreline and the average temperature is 48 degrees making it the ideal place to stock trout. Knowing this the Missouri Department of conservation took advantage and built the Shepherd of the Hills Hatchery near the shallow side of the dam to grow trout. Shepherd of the Hills Hatchery produces 1,235 million trout a year and stocks around 750,000 into Lake Taneycomo every year. The rich, fertile waters of Lake Taneycomo along with a Trophy Trout Release area allow trout to grow big. The Trophy Trout Release area is 3.5 miles long stretching from the dam to the mouth of Falls creek. In that area of the lake rainbow trout have to be released after being caught between the 12-inch to 20-inch slot limit.  Only one brown trout can be kept if it measures over 20-inches. The lake record for brown trout is 28.8-pounds caught by Scott Sandusky of Arnold, Missouri on November 20, 2009.

Lilleys’ Landing offers a variety of accommodations and amenities for anglers, families or corporate groups.
