Sonar and GPS Workshop DVD with Lance Valentine

Fish where there are catchable fish! Seems easy enough right? Well-known walleye guide, fishing educator and marine electronics expert Lance Valentine makes that statement over and over again anytime he’s talking to anglers about how to catch walleyes. In the Sonar/GPS Workshop two DVD set, Valentine takes an angler through the basics to reading and programming your sonar unit then into how to get the most out of your GPS unit.
Sonar/GPS Workshop, Lance Valentine’s Walleye101.com (www.walleye101.com) is an educational fishing DVD and part of the H2/4 Walleye Series of DVD’s hosted by Lance Valentine. This two DVD set focuses on using your sonar and GPS unit extensively for catching walleyes.
The first of the two set DVD is SONAR – Basics and Beyond. It explains how anglers can get the most of their sonar unit to catch more fish; in addition to interpreting your sonar unit. The chapters in the DVD Sonar/GPS Workshop include SONAR Basics, Operating Features, Baitfish, Finding Fish, What is Walleye101?, and Credits. In the beginning of the DVD SONAR Basics, Valentine explains the basics of how the sonar unit works. That’s critical in understanding why your sonar returns look like they do. Once you understand the basic principles you can move on to the next chapter Operating Features. In Operating Features, Valentine goes in-depth on features found on Sonar units and how to use them to find and catch walleyes. Valentine also talks about transducers and how they work. One key point that Valentine explains in this chapter is using high speed searching for finding and locating some of the best fishing spots on the lake. The next chapter is Baitfish. Baitfish are important when fishing for walleyes, but when should you stop and fish schools of baitfish? Valentine explains how and when it’s productive to stop and fish schools of baitfish. How a thermocline affects walleyes and where to fish when you have one on the lake you are fishing is also covered.
How do you know that it’s a walleye on your sonar unit? Valentine goes into detail on how walleye appear on a sonar unit. Basically, walleye return or marks will have a very sharp, dark return on top of a yellow underside.
The second of the two set DVD is Getting the Most from your GPS. It explains how anglers can get the most from their GPS unit to catch more fish; in addition to interpreting your GPS unit. The chapters in the DVD Sonar/GPS Workshop include Introduction, Save More Waypoints, Edit Your Waypoints, Use Your Trails, Orientation & Trackline, Fishing Information, What is Walleye101?, and Credits. In Introduction, Valentine explains the basics to getting the most from your GPS. In Save More Waypoints, Valentine explains the value of saving waypoints to increasing your ability to find spots where the fishing is good. Next in Edit Your Waypoints, you will learn how changing waypoints symbols and colors can produce patterns where fish live in so you only fish where the fish are. In Use Your Trails, Valentine goes in-depth how to use trails for navigation purposes; in addition to locating productive fishing areas. Next Valentine explains how Map Orientation assists in keeping you orientated on the lake and finding your GPS waypoints; in addition to explaining why you should have your unit in the track up mode. The chapter on Fishing Information explains how keeping fishing report sheets can increase the number of fish you are going to catch.
Do you want to catch more fish? You need to watch the two set DVD Sonar/GPS Workshop. In the DVD, Valentine explains the basics of using your sonar and GPS unit. The DVD Sonar/GPS Workshop is not brand specific so no matter what sonar unit you have this DVD is applicable.
