Lures, Lures Everywhere in the Lure Encyclopedia Book by Frank Prokop

    Author: Brad Wiegmann |

Lure Encyclopedia by Frank ProkopLures come in numerous different colors, shapes, and sizes.  Some run deep while others wake the surface; some are made to be trolled and others for casting.  The assortment of lures goes on and on.  Finding the right lure to use can be mind boggling for the novice, even a professional angler.  In the book, Lure Encyclopedia by Frank Prokop, over 500 lures are tested for performance; in addition to running depths, action, lure physical characteristics lure source, and size.

All of the lures listed were tested in a flume tank at the maritime college.  A state of the art tank tests the hydrological efficiency of a lure.  In a flume tank the water move over the lure at a constant rate giving the observer an accurate running depth.

The author also explains his ‘SO DAM HOT’ formula.  The acronym, SO DAM HOT stands for Skill (Knowledge), Objectivity (Flexibility), Depth, Action and Mass, Haste (Speed), Outline (Shape), Tone (Color).  The author goes into detail on how his simple formula can put more fish on the end of any angler’s line.

In the book, Lure Encyclopedia (Cardinal Publishers Group, http://www.cardinalpub.com/), the author goes out on a limb and list the top lure he tested out of the 1,065 lures.    The book has color photos of numerous lures and can even be used to identify what lures are in your tackle box.
