I look at every photo in amazement and delight; it’s a wonderland of enchanting shots that bring me up close and personal as if I was there.  While a large number of photos are impressive fishing pictures, others just relate to the marine environment.  It’s a book of footsteps in the sandy beaches, shorelines, bluffs, aerial views, marine wildlife, and of course leaping, wild tail-walking fish photos.

In the book, Fishing for Wild Images (Cardinal Publishers Group, www.cardinalpub.com) by Col Roberts, you are taken to wide open spaces and up close with wild animals that roam free in their natural environment.  There are numerous images of anglers fishing in far off locations for exotic fish.

The book has nine chapters including Kimberley, Esperance and the South Coast, Central and South America, Abrolhos is to the Pilbara Coast, Billfish, Papua and New Guinea, Africa, Northern Territory, and Photographic Notes.  Each one is a location where Roberts encounters a diverse array of fish and anglers who catch them and brings the action so close to the reader, they can almost feel the spray of the water coming off the fish as it tail-walking across the surface.

Under every photo in the book, the camera, lens, camera setting, and film use is listed.  Interestingly, every photo was taken using film and not with digital technology.  In return, the photos have a rich luster and texture that only film can reproduce.  Roberts also goes into detail on how improve your photographic skills and what to look for when taking outdoor photos. 

The book Fishing for Wild Images takes you away to faraway places to encounter some of the world’s truly exotic species of fish.  The tail-walking photos and up close images are so unbelievable; it would take a thousand words to describe.
