    Author: Brad Wiegmann

Catch Fish with Maps by Robert KnopsLast week my Cabalas, hard back, 1416 page massive catalog came to my doorstep.  Like any angler, I went directly to check out all the new lures.  Over 50 pages of plastic and hard baits were listed and pictured.  Every bait company admirably represented of course.  No doubt, any Bassmaster could without any problem, catch every bass in Lake SWEPCO if armed with any of these lures.  Each lure description informs me of its fish catching capability. YUM- Start the Feeding Frenzy, Berkley Powerbaits-Fish Bite and won’t let go, or Bomber-Each lure with realistic features molded into the plastic.

What Fish See by Colin J. Kageyama

    Author: Brad Wiegmann

What Fish SeeWhen selecting a lure anglers will go to extreme means for just the right color.  You stand in the store holding the lure up, peeking into the package and holding it under the light.  Hmmm, not quite the right color or enough silver flake and you keep searching.  Apparently bass have a highly developed ability to tell colors.  Bass lures come in numerous color patterns.  In fact preferred lure colors are normally incredibly regional or select to which body of water you are fishing.  Take for example Ozark Smoke which has a blue stripe, silver flakes, and translucent body.  This is perfect for the ultra clear reservoirs like Beaver Lake or Lake SWEPCO.  Another example is Rayburn Red lipless crankbaits which catch enormous black bass on Lake Sam Rayburn in Texas.
