B.A.S.S. Bans the Alabama Rig and other Multi-lure Rigs

    Author: Brad Wiegmann

    The Original Alabama Rig

The following is the press release from B.A.S.S. on the One-LLure Rule. How will this influence other tournament circuits? I don't know, but will this be the end of the Alabama Rig or other multi-lure rigs? Not likely. Will FLW follow suit banning it or will they allow the Alabama Rig or other multi-lure rigs in FLW Tour events?

B.A.S.S. Imposes One-Lure Rule For The Bassmaster Classic And Elite Series
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — B.A.S.S., upon the recommendation of its Bassmaster Elite Series Rules Committee, has amended its tournament rules to limit anglers competing in the Bassmaster Classic and Bassmaster Elite Series to the use of a single lure during practice and competition.

Springdale Central Jr. High Fishing Club Striper Outing 2010

    Author: Brad Wiegmann

Springdale Central jr High Fishing Club Angler with striperIt all began December 9, 1990, at Hickory Creek Marina on Beaver Lake in Northwest Arkansas. That is when the inaugural Springdale Central Jr. High Fishing Club Striper Outing took place. Dan Martin, who was a fishing guide on Beaver Lake and his wife Anne made some phone calls to some other guides who were willing to set aside a half day fishing trip for the Central Fishing Club members. On that morning, five striper guides and Springdale Central Jr. High Fishing Club Counselor and club sponsor Ron Duncan left out on an event that has continued for 20 years with numerous students taking part. Today, only one guide, Brad Wiegmann and past club sponsor Ron Duncan have continued to take part; however, the cheers and joys of fishing continues on with the students.

Weekend Warrior, Bass Fishing, Triton Boats, Mercury Outboard, Copher’s, and the American Flag

    Author: Brad Wiegmann

    Jodie holding an American Flag

What do a weekend warrior, bass fishing, Triton Boats, Mercury Outboards, Copher’s Boat Center, and the American flag have in common?  Easy Arkansas Air National Guard soldier Master Sergeant Jodie Haralson.  Maybe, I should start at the beginning.  You see Haralson loves to go bass fishing; in fact, he fishes in bass tournaments like other weekend warriors, drives a brand new Triton 21 HP Elite boat powered by a 250-hp Mercury Outboard which he bought at Copher’s Boat Center, and the American flag…that’s another story altogether.

Professional Angler Cliff Crochet Fishing Not Watching the Bassmaster Classic Championship

    Author: Brad Wiegmann

Bassmaster Classic Championship angler Cliff Crochet

In years past, Louisiana professional angler Cliff Crochet went to the Bassmaster Classic Championship, but only as a spectator.  “I was 10 years old when my dad took me to my first Bassmaster Classic.  Since then, I have watched three more Classics,” Crochet continued, “but to be an angler in the classic has always been a dream that turned into a goal.”  Crochet’s first experience with fishing started when the 3-wheeler they owned broke down and with nothing else to do the young Crochet went to the garage, found a rod and reel; as fate would have it, Crochet lived next to a bayou next to his house and with his rod in hand went there and caught his first fish.  “I was so excited that I ran back to the house to show my parents; right then and there I got hooked on it,” said Crochet.

    Watch Exposed Pros on Tour

    Author: Brad Wiegmann

Go to Exposed Pros on Tour videoNot all exposure is good. A great example of bad exposure is 2004 Super Bowl half time performance which included a 9/16-second exposure of one Janet Jackson’s mannary glands. It was a brief exposure, but Jackson’s right breast became the talk of everyone including the FCC. ProPatterns Exposed Pros on Tour video series shows a lot less skin, but does expose Bassmaster Elite Pros like never before as they prefish during official practice days before a Bassmaster Elite Series tournament. All of the videos in the series are non-scripted. No faking a bad day prefishing; no hiding emotions back; no taking out how these professional anglers approach prefishing. Good or bad; you get to see it all.

It’s all about being there at the 2010 Bassmaster Classic Championship

    Author: Brad Wiegmann

Thousands of weekend anglers dream of it, hundreds of professional anglers compete to have a slim chance to be a part of it, and only 36 Bassmaster Elite Series Anglers qualify to fish in it.  If you have one bad tournament or an off year, you qualify to work the Bassmaster Classic Expo, attend to Classic weigh-in in the stands, or worst yet end up watching it on ESPN 360.  Only 51 professional anglers qualify and got to fish in the 2010 Bassmaster Classic Championship; only 25 anglers make the cut and fish day three.  The other 26 anglers watch the event; wondering, if only I would have?  Three anglers that did not make the cut but fished in the 2010 Bassmaster Classic were Alton Jones, a past Bassmaster Classic winner, Terry Scroggins, and Terry Butcher.
