Name me one bass tournament where every angler is a winner? Can’t do it can you? Well, I can. The tournament is the 2012 Will Fish for Kids Tournament operated by FLW Outdoors held at Prairie Creek Marina on Beaver Lake in Rogers, Arkansas. While three teams of anglers walk away from the tournament with large trophies, the real winner was the Arkansas Children’s Hospital Dental Clinic.

The morning starts early. Way before the sun rises above the magnificent white buffs that line the shoreline of Bull Shoals Lake in north central Arkansas. I search my room for everything to take with me. My camera, rain suit, hat, and other stuff is packed into a waterproof bag. Its going to be a long day, but an exciting one. I will be the Bassmaster Marshal for Scott Ashmore from Broken Bow, Oklahoma. Ashmore is in his third season on the Bassmaster Elite Series. We meet at his motel room and then off to the boat ramp. Ashmore is ready to get this tournament started. He has been catching them good.

This morning like yesterday morning starts early, but unlike yesterday the cloudy skies warn anglers of this to come. Although its not raining when we launch the boat rain its on the way. Mark Menenndez, Strike King Pro, is my pro today. The sun not going to rise above the magnificent white buffs that line the shoreline of Bull Shoals Lake in north central Arkansas. I have taken everything necessary for today including my camera, rain suit, hat, and other stuff are packed into a waterproof bag. Its going to be a long day; a long rainy day. As we wait around for takeoff Menendez prepares his tackle for the day of fishing. Yesterday, Menendez had a solid limit and expects to catch a bigger limit today.
The Bassmaster Elite Series tournaments are unique in the fact they don’t have a co-angler in the boat during the tournament, but a Marshal. Marshals verify that the Bassmaster Elite Series professional angler has followed the rules during the tournament hours. It’s an honor and privilege to be a Marshal at one of the Bassmaster Elite Series Tournaments. That’s why I’m so excited because I got this in the mail today…
