It’s just another day out fishing, but the wear and tear is beginning to show on your hands. If you had only known what they know now about the effects of harmful UV rays and sun burning your skin. The exposure over the years has made your skin tough with sun spots to boot. Now you wish you would have saved your hands from the damaging sun’s rays, but you just can’t stop going outside or fishing. So you search for an answer. Something you can wear to cover your hands. Regular jersey gloves are too hot to wear in the summer months and you can’t feel when you get a bite. You need gloves intended just for anglers like Dr. Shade 50+ UPF Sun Protection Gloves by Glacier Outdoor. Dr. Shade Glacier Outdoor Sun Protection Gloves were designed to fit comfortable and extend your time outside without allowing the harmful exposure to the sun’s rays.

Why be concerned with being over exposed to the sun? Research has now proven that over exposure to sunlight can increase the risk for skin cancer; in addition to damaging skin. It’s a serious matter; the National Cancer Institute estimates that over 1,000,000 individual cases of skin cancer will develop this year alone.

Coastal anglers seem to be more aware of the damage sunlight can do over the years. They have been wearing lightweight, breathable long billed hats with a shade for years; however, freshwater anglers are catching on quick. Now, it’s not unusual to see an angler fishing with gloves on while fishing Ozark creeks, trout streams, highland reservoirs, or ponds.

One company that specializes in designing gloves to protect anglers from sunlight that can damage skin and decreases your chances of skin cancer is Glacier Outdoor. Glacier Outdoor (www.glacieroutdoor.com) line of Dr. Shade 50+ UPF Sun Protection Gloves were designed to reduce the amount of harmful UV rays reaching the skin on the anglers hands. They come in three styles. The Abaco Sun Glove with 50+ UPF lycra on the back and palm area that makes it their lightest sun glove. It has a new pattern design that protects fingers from harmful rays of the sun. The cuff has also been lengthened to protect the angler’s wrist from getting sunburned. The Ascencion Bay Glove has a 50+ UPF rating and was designed for maximum sun protection. It has a lycra back and super-light weight lycra dries quickly. The palm made from polyurethane is thin and durable. The last model is their stripping and fighting. It was designed to be used in both fresh and salt. The 50+ UPF rating is great for protecting the angler, but unlike the other Glacier Outdoor line of gloves. It also features synthetic leather palms with PU pads to protect the angler’s hands while the 4-way stretch breathable nylon keeps the sunlight off. This model also happens to be the most popular with fly fishermen and gear guys.

It’s never too late or too early to start wearing gloves to protect your hands from skin cancer; especially with the newly designed gloves available. Just think no more putting sun screen on your hands, which in the past would have repelled fish. Now you can enjoy being outside fishing; in fact, you can stay out a little longer with sun gloves on.
