The old saying is cold hand, warm heart. Not in my boat because cold hands are a thing of the past. I have a new pair of gloves from Frabill, the new Frabill FXE Snosuit Task Glove. It was designed to complement the Frabill FXE Snosuit bibs and parka. Of course the Frabill FXE (Frabill Extreme Elements) Snosuit bibs, parka, and Task glove was designed for ice fishing, but anglers anywhere can appreciate staying warm anytime it’s cold out.
Gloves that anglers wear when fishing in cold weather need to be durable yet not impede their range of motion; in addition to keeping the angler’s hands dry and warm. That’s not an easy task for any glove. The fit and feel has to be just right. That’s where handwear engineering comes into play. “It’s called ‘articulation’; essentially the term is relative to how a garment is engineered to fit the natural curves of the human form and then moves with the body’s motion. In the case of the Frabill FXE Snosuit Task Glove (www.frabill.com), we’ve pre-curved the fingers to mirror the shape and posture of the human hand. Try on a pair. You’ll feel what I’m talking about,” said Frabill’s accredited apparel designer Chris Leonard. The glove not only extends the hand’s range of motion, but features dual knuckle and thumb “accordion” stretch panels making them easier to wear while fishing or performing simple tasks.
Features of the Frabill FXE Snosuit Task Glove:
• Rugged waterproof, windproof, breathable ultra-stretch design.
• 100% waterproof, windproof, breathable insert (not removable).
• Soft yet durable brushed tricot lining.
• Reinforced chamaude palm material with double top stitching and heavy duty thread.
• Silicone “diamond plate” grip.
• Ergonomic curved patterning for comfortable fit.
• Dual knuckle and thumb accordion stretch panels.
• Premium nose wipe material on the thumb.
If an angler was making a list of what they would want in a glove to wear it would have waterproof, windproof, breathable, good comfortable fit, and a solid grip. It’s obvious that a glove needs to be waterproof if not than it just ends up in a storage compartment after it gets wet; in addition to not keeping your hands warm. It should also be windproof for the same reason a glove should be waterproof. A glove should also be breathable to keep the moisture away. Maybe the most important is the fit so an angler can get a solid grip. No angler wants to drop a fishing pole in the lake or ice.
Picking out the right glove for an angler can be more complicated than it looks. Anglers are looking for several features in a glove making them wearable while out fishing. The design and construction is as important as fit. The Frabill FXE Snosuit Task Glove maybe as close to the perfect glove that an angler can get.
